Theater historian. Little League coach. Cruciverbalist.
These are, and always have been, just straight up murders. Everyone must be held accountable.

No legal blah blah. No "but National Security!" No "just following orders."

These are murders.

They want the names of everyone who attended a listening session or filled out an online survey?? So much fascism.

The credulity from @nytimes.com is absolutely mind-blowing. Of course it was this asshole who called ICE! Who else would have done it? Why that one spot?

Not sure if this made it into any of Wolff's books:

Epstein advising Michael Wolff on how Woody Allen should respond to 2018 stories accusing Allen of molesting Dylan Farrow.

Here are Epstein and a NYTimes reporter expressing bafflement that @nytimes.com has not contacted Epstein during the 2016 campaign, nor pursued the many leads Epstein gave to Thomas (in other emails) to pass on.

Here he's chatting with Steven Bannon about ... something crypto?

Here's Epstein messaging his (eventual) estate trustee about the financial plight an ex-girlfriend of "Bill" who's the "richest man in the world." (So, presumably, Gates.)

Is it known that Trump was scheduled to be deposed in a Jane Doe lawsuit involving Epstein and Maxwell in August, 2009? @pbump.com

Leo Amery's 1940 speech in the Commons, which basically forced Chamberlain out of office, is worth revisiting:

I don't want to beat up on social sciences. I think they're really important! But as a humanist, reading that key ideas in psychology are outright fabrications makes me super mad that "the humanities are dying." We lost our students to this bullshit? At least the fiction we read is well-written.

Good job, Wikipedia.

Not sure it's clear from reporting, but it's basically impossible to see the East Wing destruction from the street. Security barriers and trees block viewpoints almost entirely.

Dhuhr prayer time. Eleanor watches thoughtfully.

Please attend a No Kings rally tomorrow. I will wear an inflatable hippo. Just bring yourself. And everyone else you know who values living in a democracy.

It's the Islamic Cultural Center of New York. One of the main prayer sites for taxi drivers working in Manhattan. And I've no doubt Eleanor Roosevelt would LOVE that view for what it says about humans' ability to live together across differences.

Today in "My country is NYC" (@cjsprigman.bsky.social's coinage): You can contemplate what Eleanor Roosevelt lived through. How she fought against evil and for a country that valued everyone for their humanity. And you wonder what she's looking at. (1/3)
