I always forget about bluesky, but hello fellow virus people and democracy seekers! 🩵🦇

As for life updates, I’m starting some work on HIV1 reservoirs and totally clueless. Any lenti or HIV people, I would love to know your must-read papers/books!

Violence is never the answer.

The craziest thing about all of this is that when I started getting notifications from the @standupforscience.bsky.social discord server, I knew it was an active shooter situation. Not a fire, not a crazy pathogen leaking from a lab, but an active shooter.

The heart and brain of EPA - its research office - has been dismantled. Policy now outranks evidence. Hundreds of scientists silenced while industry lobbyists cheer.

And the #EPA139 who spoke out still on admin leave.

“Why are so many kids getting long covid” idk maybe because repeat infections of a virus with neurotropic effects during development will do that
Sigh. I feel for parents, I really do. Masking kids is hard, especially when theres institutional and peer pressure not to. But once your kid is sick with long covid, there is no going back. Maybe not ever. www.news week.com/why-are-so-many-children-getting-long-covid-2080950
Why are so many children getting long COVID?
A study by Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) last year found that up to 5.8 million American children now have long COVID.

Superstars/Nobel winners will get job offers from everywhere. They do anyway. We should be focused on the average student, postdoc and lab tech whose life is going to be turned upside down by all of this. They have nowhere to go. Let's write stories about that.

Turns out his prior DEI support means they don’t want him either.
