California pension @calpers.bsky.social invested $60B in 'climate solutions'. So why does that include fossil fuels?

As the largest U.S. public pension, what CalPERS does matters, writes Allie Lindstrom & Jakob Evans for @calmatters.org.

California pension @calpers.bsky.social invested $60B in 'climate solutions' -- yet its overall strategy is shrouded in secrecy, writes Allie Lindstrom of @sierraclub.org & Jakob Evans of @sierraclubca.bsky.social for @calmatters.org.

Opinion | CalPERS’ $60 billion investment in ‘climate solutions’ lacks environmental standards, transparency
CalPERS won't say what climate companies it invests in. The pension also holds positions in fossil fuel, airlines, plastics manufacturing and technology.

NYC pension trustees meet this week and could approve the @nyccomptroller.bsky.social recommendation to shift $42B for the same reason. 🍿
PME, a Dutch pension fund overseeing about $70 billion, has severed ties with BlackRock based on an assessment that the world’s largest money manager no longer acts in its best interests on issues such as climate risk.
