I hadn't thought of this before. it's kind of reassuring, though completely contingent on trusting journalists to do their due diligence and figure out what's real in the first place. and listen, considering how many articles I read these days where they can't even be bothered to proofread damn idk
As AI, deepfakes etc. become ubiquitous, people who may have stopped reading newspapers are going to get tired of trying to figure out what's real and go back to reliable sources of information that they don't have to second-guess. Outlets that don't paywall will be first in line for those eyes.
