All I want is for someone to love my writing and to wiggle their toes when they learn I am releasing something. ✨️

I finally caved and started audiobooks. #reading

I used the mississippi pot roast recipe with some chicken thighs and these kids tore it up. 🫢

Some of my fellow mississippians are not grasping the correlation between the poor response to this ice storm and the current administration.

I want to share some of what I've posted to my substack. It's Black. It's lesbian. It's southern. There's probably a vampire in there too. #shortstory #writer #blackwriters
Roses Bloom
A father missing. A daughter framed and exonerated in the gruesome death of her mother. A brother that disowns them all. A 247-year-old pact is broken, and a price is to be paid in full. (part one)

I read 75 pages in one sitting and I'm enjoying this book more than the first. Verity has more substance to her than Aphrodite and oddly enough, I see more of Hathor than through the lens of her own older sister. #reading

Now how the hell am I supposed to get this thick ass ice off my windshield. I wasn't built for these conditions.

In the time I've been away, I've committed myself to writing more and posting it on my substack. Even if no one reads it, I've enjoyed the privilege of releasing the worlds in my head.

After a 500 year hiatus in which BlueSky was blocked in my state, I had to verify my age to log back in. 🤪

I feel like at my core I’m just an angry lesbian and that’s okay.

This book has been sitting on my TBR for a little over a year. I don’t remember was spurred me to move it up on the list but I’m glad I did. I truly enjoyed her style of writing and I felt like I walked away with greater insight. #isabelcanas #vampiresofelnorte #booksky

In the last week, two FB groups I’ve been in have allowed users to post misinformation and offensive rage bait and in both groups, commenters challenging the posts are the ones banned because they aren’t being “nice”.

Say what?

A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.

So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.
For decades, a doctor refused to charge patients who couldn't pay. When he couldn't pay, his patients came to his aid.
When Dr. Michael Zollicoffer was diagnosed with two types of cancer, his patients started a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $100,000.

I bit the bullet and bought myself a laptop because trying to write my book in a room with my kids is definitely a level of purgatory.

Terrified isn’t really the word. I’m a queer, black single parent and my oldest baby is on the autism spectrum. I don’t know how to feel. I want them to be an amazing and bright future. I’m so sick of our current administration.

My February Books so far:
-Parable of the Talents
-Raybearer
-Brewed with Love

I’m not sure what to read now and I have far too many options, it frightens me a little.

"The best and the worst thing about vaccination is that it 'makes nothing happen.'

A child successfully inoculated against measles doesn’t fall sick with that condition, doesn’t miss school, doesn’t go to the hospital. They don’t suffer life-changing complications. They don’t die prematurely."
A leading pediatrician was already worried about the future of vaccines. Then RFK Jr. came along
In a new book, pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Adam Ratner details the history of measles, a virus that’s often a bellwether for public health disasters.
