Once again, Husband has requested madeira cake (and custard) as his birthday cake.

This is what I've come to, putting the finishing touches to a batch of ginger molasses sandwich biscuits at 11 o'clock on a Friday night. I used to be cool*

A pile of surprisingly neat sandwich biscuits on a white side plate. The biscuits are crinkly, and a deep, rich golden brown, they were rolled in sanding sugar before baking. They are sandwiched with a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream that I made from a packet, not even I'm willing to fuck about with egg whites at this time of night.

Operation Sausage has been a success 🎉
There's definitely room for improvement, but for a recipe I cobbled together and a technique I guessed at, it ain't half bad!
Behold, a battered curry sausage:
A fresh from frying battered sausage on a white plate. It is nobbly and singed in places, and frankly, could pass for an entry on the Bristol Stool Chart. The same sausage now cut in half to expose a large frankfurter sausage centre with a layer of curry sauce (mostly) contained between the batter and the sausage. I've typed sausage so many times it's starting to look weird.

At lunchtime, I decided I couldn't really be arsed with cooking dinner tonight and somehow that led to making pizza whirls
12 pizza whirls stuck together in four rows of three. They are made with pizza dough spread with tomato puree, a selection of cured meats (prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, and ham), and mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. Oh, and a sprinkling of basil cause I'm fancy.

I started out making meringue which somehow spiralled into making this deliciously decadent thing.

An ugly tart made by an uglier tart
A lemon posset tart with a biscuit crust and piped whipped cream splodges for decoration. The top is dusted with leftover biscuit crumbs and multicoloured sugar sprinkles. It is still in the pie tin because I couldn't get it out cleanly.

Made a Giant Thing
