This is the greatest shōnen anime of all time.

This show traumatized me

It’s a banger for sure. Doesn’t top “Again” for me but I’m a Yui die hard.

That said no FMA:B opening can touch “Ready Steady Go!” or “Rewrite” from the 2003 run.

Agreed. I grew up with both Sega and Nintendo but I definitely clocked more hours on my Mega Drive (Genesis over here) than my SNES. Sadly like many others in the US I didn’t know about the Saturn until the Dreamcast was going end of sale.

Video games are unique for our time because as a wholly new form of media and entertainment, we are part of the initial cohort drafting the early days. This is ever evolving and changing depending on the times but we are participants in crafting a body of work to be studied 200 years from now.

It’s a perennial problem. There is just to much out there for any one person to play so we begin to aggregate based upon entries that cross reference along with the big mainstream breakthroughs to form a “canon.” We see it with art, literature, music, and film as well.

I just put an IPS screen in my OG 1001. Been playing it a lot since then. It’s a huge improvement over the stock LCD.

Excellent write up! This might be my first one in the series. I have a fond nostalgia for DW/DQ VII because of magazine advertisements. Toriyama’s art was very appealing. I never found the game in stores back then but this has always been the game I think of for this series.

Also, I want to note that the CRT image is already inherently softer than the OLED but this photo is less sharp that it appears in person thanks to my poor focusing skills. It's quite difficult without a large monitor to check so I rely on the camera's tiny display and auto-focus

That said there is nuance here and I can only convey so much info in the limited character space. You can always find bands singing in their native language across time but these trended toward the local underground, or nativist black metal groups.

Most metal lyrics are in English (Japan notable exception), just want to be clear about that. However growls and grunts with regional accented English are still near incomprehensible. It's really only in the last decade many bands have eschewed English for their mother tongue, which is really cool!

We love a physical PC game collection.

I’m not even a big champion for the GC controller and I don’t have issues with it. I generally find things I like about most controllers.

Rented it on whim… must’ve been 2004 or 05. Was not expecting what I got. Rewatched three times before returning and laughed the whole time.

I was first introduced to corn on pizza by my Japanese friends in Uni. Then when met my wife she also confirmed it was a thing in Korea ☠️

Corn-Cheese is fire though

I played this one last year and agree about the opening. However I found it very charming once Roddick and Millie set off with Ronyx and Ilia.

I played the PSP version, which I had on my shelf for years.

The real question is do they offer corn and mayo as toppings? That’s how you’ll know if they compromised for local taste.
