Despite its flaws, I love #FinalFantasyVIII. The music, the art direction, the presentation, and whole vibe are just so much of what kept me interested in #FinalFantasy as a kid. From an aesthetics perspective this is my personal favorite.

This damn fine video game continues to inspire. #Xenogears makes me contemplative well over 20 years after my first experience and still haunts me just over a year after completing a replay.

I just put an IPS screen in my OG 1001. Been playing it a lot since then. It’s a huge improvement over the stock LCD.

#iyudenChronicle presents a good case for comparison between the #HDCRT, first photo, and the 4K OLED, second photo. I had to crop in on the HD-CRT to get a close approximation of size. My tube is 34" vs the 77" OLED so it's not perfectly 1:1. Still I hope the unique properties of each display show.

We love a physical PC game collection.

You’ve come a long way from here.

Also this one is still rotation, 24 years strong.

#AceCombat7 is one of the monthly PS+ games.

“Does the color of the sky mean anything to you?”

“It does to me, a hell of a lot”

And that’s a wrap on the Kingdom path for Vanguard Bandits! Finally completed this one after nearly a quarter century since I last laid hands on a physical copy. Definitely a good game but it has the unfortunate fate of being a Tactical RPG in a world after Final Fantasy Tactics was released.

The current state of my PlayStation shelf. Can’t believe I was able to finally nab Vanguard Bandits and Alundra in the wild. I live in a bit of vintage game desert nowadays.

Enjoying things from yesteryear

I went crazy yesterday. I found Vanguard Bandits in the wild which feels uncommon these days. This is a grail game for me. I played this about half way through back in 01 when I borrowed it from my friend but never got a chance to finish it. I could never find it in stores or even for rent

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach credits rolled. This game is a masterpiece. 62 hours worth of porter work and wild scenarios have left me completely satisfied.

A visual representation of the games I beat in 2025. Rolled Credits on 23 games which is a lot for me.

The last two are more honorable inclusions, as wrapped up the Lunar 2 Epilogue in January and did a quick run of Rocket Knight in about an hour one random Saturday.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice In Chains

Finally ran through the @loadwordteam.com translation of the Japanese #AceCombat3: electrosphere release. This is truly one of the best games I ever played. It might be the best Ace Combat story, and certainly the most ambitious. The story, themes, music, art, and gameplay all converge perfectly

Replayed this one on my PSP! Mostly as a pick up and play game on & off for a few months. Great Ace Combat experience with stunning visuals for the hardware. Lighter story here than other games but a bit more robust than Air Combat and Ace Combat 2.

Played Battle Mania today for some hot CRT action.

14” Akai CRT, RetroArch BlastEm at 240P HDMI to Composite converter, shot with a Sony A6400 210mm f5.1 ISO 500 1/60

From the customer side of the aisle, there is little reason or incentive to buy games new when sales and “definitive” editions launch. Some cases as short as a year after release. I know this doesn’t perfectly translate across various slices of the industry but many now wait.

There is a Steam Deck specific section too!

Steam Replay 2025 is up!

Anyway here’s my #PlayStation 2025 Wrap-Up. I spent a fair amount of time couch gaming this year. I’ve trended toward the console on a number of titles just because of physical editions. Still waiting on Steam Replay 2025 to get a better view of the year. Also played some older titles on OG hardware

#WindAndTruthSpoilers I finished Wind and Truth today. The Stormlight Archive is the only series of Brandon's that I have much interest in and this book continues to leave me cautiously interested. There were a few surprises in here, not all of them good or executed well. 1/
