Been into this card for commander. If your deck cares about 1 drops, lifegain, artifacts or has equipment this thing has very reasonable evasion/protection to supplement. The lifegain is really nice if you can get it out early.

Im currently brewing bracket 1 sidisi fetching the sibsig ceremony as a hidden commander- A lower power sidisi deck could be fun. Ashnod is also fun: ramp out some artifacts and activated abilities.

I like this and i do realize this only boosts small things and only a little but this is the most versatile of these types of blue combat tricks. Makes stuff bigger, makes stuff smaller, or it makes stuff an artifact to be blown up with artifact removal.

I think hylda's crown goes in most decks, protects you from getting punched and then draws a bunch of cards. Starving revenant is heavily underrated imo even if you're not self milling-- if you're drawing a bunch and discarding to hand size the last ability can buy the life back and threaten damage

My favorite commander deck is helmed by ebondeath here. The curve goes mana rock on 2 ebondeath on 3 and start hitting people.
It wins exclusively through commander or combat damage but I'd call it a midrange deck over a voltron deck-- barely any protection or pump effects. Just dragon.

Had to stretch the definition a bit to find any cards like that. I run this as a way to give my voltron commander 2 damage once and ideally deter attacks after that.

I did run a mono black devotion deck in that standard as well hehe. I was using underworld dreams as an instant kill with peer into the abyss but also as a way to get gary 3 devotion

I love this card. I ran it in standard, I'm trying to run it in commander. It's a burglar rat and a shade!!! It's so cool

Moving to my more recent mtg experiences- I think this card is severely underplayed in commander. Just play it and hit your land drop with it! That's already drawing a card and you get so many other tiny things ontop

Staying in standard and in dimir i also had a fun cat/oven, emry lurker of the loch, cauldron of eternity reanimator deck with this tezzeret as top end to utilize the foods and ovens. Proud of that one

I started my magic career when arena came out, this is immediately what I gravitated towards lol. I love hand attack and slower overwhelming wins

Seems like a great curve together. You could theoretically forego running any permanent under 5 mana lol
