I think the lesson to learn is that moral panics are bad, whether their justified or not. Stuff like the Satanic Panic and Violent Videogame discourse should be lessons on how NOT to talk about what is a very real problem, because yeah this time it IS different.

Honestly I can definitely see the moral panics surrounding the AI psychosis stuff but just, realistically speaking, if we can hold people accountable for pushing others towards harm with very direct communication then like, the computer that specifically simulates communication isn't excepted
