Oddly, the standards get pink, and Citrine gets purple. Those patches on the front were purple on everyone in the main games and on the boys' shoes. The ones on the girls' shoes were red.

So in Xenogears Merkava is built by Solaris, under Cain/the Gazel, and later worked on/added to by Karellen, meanwhile Xenosaga's Merkabah was designed by Joachim Mizrahi.
So yeah, in their final forms they look very similar.
