I figured it would be, I just had to be sure, but the Pilot Manual Part 1 (Weltall's) is in VJump Issue #55 (Jan 1, *1998*; correction there),
Part 2 (Vierge) is in #56 (Feb 1st),
and Part 3 (Heimdall) is in #57 (March 1st).

Only Xenogears could get me to willingly do math calculating "eye" level height and viewable distance of the horizon in order to find out how big Deus would realistically appear on the horizon given how many kilometers wide in diameter Merkabah (and thus Deus) is just so I can do a painting

So Weltall would be around this tall by comparison. Which also lines up with Myyah's figure inside of the tube, as I've previously calculated that Fei is about the same height as Weltall's "cranium", if he's standing on his shoulder.

also i love that it captured my math there, in calculating some of deus back then 😂
They wanted it to have a *very* wide, open, & lonely feeling, so we went for a far off pulled back shot.
(the "beginning" text was me using a screenshot of it in the custom proposal when they submitted the comm to VGen. I started on it way b4 they ever comm'd me on VGen bc I rly wanted to do this)

A handy tip I learned is, if you have a light bulb/socket that you're worried will get frozen (where you have to break the bulb and pry the base out with pliers to remove it, that kind of frozen) you can just coat the bulb's base with some sebum before screwing it in and it won't freeze.
