Here is the cover I made for @phrack.org 72! This cover will be on copies ordered via print on demand.

The paper used for this collage was extremely hard to photograph or scan bc of the vivid florescent colors. Shout out @hermit.sh for helping with color correction! See yall in Vegas.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Chatting about Ouija boards this Halloween and was reminded of the CSS animated ANSI art Ouija board I made for the last episode of ThugCrowd. The font I designed for this was reused for the original @tmpout.sh logo too! I just expanded some glyphs to make them line up better.

Something that surprised me a little (but made sense in retrospect) was that core dump files are ELFs

The HPE NonStop Itanium and amd64 systems use them for their "Guardian" OS and the "OSS" layer on top of that,

They also added the extra vendor/os fields in the wrong spots for some of the enums

What's the most unexpected or interesting place you have seen the ELF format used? Especially non-Linux use cases (eg Firehose programmers)

#BGGP6 is off to a great start! We got 4 entries in the first 24 hours (as many entries as all of BGGP1!).

In the lead so far by total score is mauke, who made a 55 byte 4-way polyglot that is also a palindrome (pictured).

See all verified entries here: github.com/binarygolf/B...

There's a sick linenoise article by @there.is.no.aarch64.mov in @phrack.org 71 called "Learning An ISA By Force Of Will", where ixi goes from unknown binary blob, to manual instruction decoding, to figuring out control flow, and gives a critique of the RE'd ISA.

Wrote a trigger for CVE-2025-38494/5 (an integer underflow in the HID subsystem) that leaks 64 KB of OOB memory over USB.

Still works on Pixels and Ubuntus (but the bug is fixed in stable kernels).

Are there any decent gameboy rom plugins for binja that aren't in the plugin store? Neither one on there really works that well for even basic disassembly.

Cleaning up the decompilation of a firmware binary can be such a meditative activity. Delicately defining data, fixing misidentified strings and pointers, undefining erronous functions and types, finding fun features and quirks. It's like a little zen garden to tend to.
