The kitchen looks different... it’s gigantic! No, not quite. He looks down. Realises he’s standing upon the table cloth. They’ve all been shrunken down to an inch tall, if that! The once tiny jeeps are now the perfect size to drive. BONNIE OK everyone, you know the rules, you start according to how you placed last time! WALTER Back of the line for me... CHERRY I hate that stupid rule. BONNIE I don’t~! CHERRY Yeah, because you always win! Bonnie immaturely sticks her tongue out at Cherry. The latter girl <HUFFS> and storms over to the car in third place. Spider stares, taking everything in with sheer awe. He gives Bonnie a truly bewildered stare. She playfully prods Spider with the shrink ray. BONNIE Story time is for later! Right now it’s time to race; back of the grid for ya!

Currently that'd be my just-for-fun feature, Micro Machines: The Movie. It's been fun to adapt the classic video game & its quirky cast to a movie, and draft #2 is going really well! ^_^

CHERRY Here I thought I was a sore loser. ANNE You thought right. Cherry shakes her fist. Anne smugly <SLURPS> a juice box. CHERRY C’mon Bonnie, all this because he’s won a few races? BONNIE He won all the races! CHERRY Yeah, and who does that remind us of, I wonder? She <SNICKERS>. Bonnie <HUFFS> again. BONNIE Well know this, I’ll be winning our showdown, just you wait and see. She looks back at the boys’ table. Walter talks of something or another, appearing troubled. Spider pats his shoulder. BONNIE Sure, he might be skilled, he might be confident, he might be strong and have those cool shades... and a nice smile... probably abs... has a nice voice whenever he actually speaks... not to mention his hair. She whinnies as her rider - Cassidy - cheers. Cassidy has grown up over the years. Long, free flowing hair, more band aids, taller than average. Pink overalls as usual. As always, she’s wearing a rotten raspberry backpack. A glowing creature pokes his head out, enjoying the ride. It’s SCORCH (7), a GLOWPUP. Glows in the dark just like a nightlight. It could've been a worse monster. It could've been a clig, and there are for sure a lot of them across Hy, each with a hunting style unlike any other.💀
EXT. JUNGLE - CLIG GROVE - DAY Sagittaria, Bonita and Mirka move through some tall grass, being careful to keep low and quiet. Sagittaria peers through the edge of the grass. Bonita and Mirka poke out their heads beneath her. Nearby a CLIG - the apex predator of HY, a dozen-eyed shark mouth on stocky legs - is goring into a bloodied creature. Sagittaria grimaces. Bonita and Mirka are unphased. Sagittaria peers either side of the clig before her gaze settles onto the beast itself. She sighs. SAGITTARIA Star Pad, please tell me that the tech isn’t inside the clig. STAR PAD Request processed. It is not inside the clig. SAGITTARIA Are you lying to me? STAR PAD Yes. Sagittaria facepalms. SAGITTARIA Honestly, do weapons taste like pondweed ice cream or something? This is like the fourth time a monster ate our stuff. BONITA We gonna take it down? SAGITTARIA Seems we’ll have to. Another bot from Robot Wars, it's Psychosprout! Yeah, bots in series 1 were kinda weird, but I love 'em anyway. Basically a large ball, this bot rolled through the gauntlet... and bombed the trial. Honestly? Robbed.

The girl follows after the monsters, deeper and deeper into the caves. They soon come to a glowing archway - a PORTAL. The monsters jump through one by one. One of the monsters gestures for the girl to follow them. They enter the portal. KING CORPUS (V.O) She said yes, but asked where they would go. The monsters said she could pick anywhere she wanted and led her to their magical hideout. CASSIDY (V.O) The Portal Yard! They come out the other side of the portal, standing upon what appears to be a flat disc floating in space. Set around its circumference are several uniquely designed archways. KING CORPUS (V.O) The magical place, the centre of every world, the thing that connects all monsters - the girl hardly knew where to start! INT. CASSIDY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT A room fit for a princess! A four poster bed, a walk-in closet, a fancy vanity dresser and numerous toys. Tucked up in bed is CASSIDY (6): hair in pigtails, several band aids, green skin - the PRINCESS of the ZOMBIES. Seated beside the bed is KING CORPUS (40), the KING of the Zombies. Regal, majestic, powerful... and a laid back Dad. Corpus closes the STORYBOOK in his hand. Puts it on a shelf. CASSIDY What happened next? KING CORPUS A certain little Princess got some sleep, that’s what! CASSIDY I’m not tired! I could... stay awake all night... in my sleep! She yawns, already starting to nod off. Corpus laughs, gently pecking her on her forehead. KING CORPUS Then you better get to sleep and prove that you can, eh? Cassidy sleepily giggles. CASSIDY Daddy, why did the zombie run away? Why was everyone so mean to her? (quieter) Was she a vegetarian? Corpus considers his words.

Would our heroine’s adventure buddy want to play a game of marbles with her? She dared to hope the answer was yes. She reaches the cave. Puts away her adventure journal. Peers into the darkness - starts hopping about, waving her arms. BONITA Hello! Adventure buddy! You in there? Come on out and say hello! Something stirs in the darkness. Her grin widens. A grisly creature enters the light. Her face pales. The beast stands as tall as a monster truck, resembling a shark mouth on two bulky legs. A dozen eyes blink in unison, all staring right at Bonita. It’s a CLIG! It drools, hungrily licking its lips. BONITA Oh scrack! No, no, no! Bonita runs for her life, SCREAMING all the way. The clig ROARS and chases after her. EXT. JUNGLE TRAIL - DAY Sagittaria jogs through the jungle, taking in all of the amazing and thoroughly alien sights. Every so often she flinches from her burns. She uses the Star Pad to take a few photos, finishing off with a selfie in front of a large ROSE. The rose sprouts a pair of EYESTALKS, staring at her. SAGITTARIA Cool! The rose hisses like a snake. A moment later a sofa sized striped centipede lunges at the rose, starting to devour it. The centipede is swiftly taken up in the jaws of a creature resembling a mix between an ostrich and a rat. Sagittaria watches in horror as the centipede is gored apart. SAGITTARIA Sick... Page 29 of the Star Duck pilot, Quack Landing. --- The ostrich rat takes a few steps... and the ground opens up, the SPINDLY LEGS of an UNKNOWN CREATURE bursting up to grab it and drag it down. Splashes of blood spurt from the hole. Sagittaria stares, horrified. STAR PAD Updated odds of survival, 10000-1. SAGITTARIA So long as it’s not zero, it could be a billion to one. STAR PAD Well- SAGITTARIA Shush! She moves through an overgrowth, swatting aside branches and flora as she goes. She stumbles over a root -- EXT. THE CRASH SITE - CONTINUOUS -- And tumbles into a wide clearing, roughly faceplanting onto the ground. She sits herself up, groaning. Right in front of her, halfway embedded into the ground, is the nano welder. SAGITTARIA Score! She plucks the tool from the ground and dramatically holds it overhead. Her gaze lands ahead. She whimpers. The Quackening rests right in front of her. The once semi-passable ship lays in the middle of a CRATER, absolutely mangled from the crash. SAGITTARIA Oh quack, this is bad... STAR PAD Odds of survival- SAGITTARIA Shut up! (tentative) Star Pad, scan The Quackening for damages. Maybe it looks worse than it really is?

BEETLE (V.O.) Where is he?! Where’d he go?! MOTH (V.O.) This can’t be happening! Not now! More <GUNSHOTS>. <SIRENS> wail. WASP (V.O.) That little brat, he abandoned us! POLICE OFFICER (V.O.) GET ON THE GROUND! WASP (V.O.) I’ll get that wheelman if it’s the last thing I do! I’ll get you-- INT. CAR - INTERCUT The interior of a simple car. Cheap. Tidy. Nothing out of the ordinary here. In the drivers’ seat CARMEN (30s, Latin), a social worker, steadily keeps the car going down the road. CARMEN --Spider? Spider, are you awake? A figure is laying down across the backseats of the car, just out of view. CARMEN (CONT'D) We’re almost there. I’m sure you’re gonna like it in Parvusville. Cosy, slow... it’s just what you’ll need. Silence. The figure laying down neither speaks nor moves. CARMEN You don’t need to speak, not after all that. But... a simple ‘OK’ would work. (quieter) Or a thank you for loaning the money for the outfit you chose. The figure raises a hand, giving a brief thumbs up. Micro Machines Movie, page 76 --- Spider <COUGHS>. Gestures to Bonnie’s knees and his ears. Bonnie lifts her face from behind her knees. BONNIE You’re interesting. Cool! Spider, Parvusville... well, nothing ever happens here. Even with the club everything was just routine. Then you showed up. A guy in shades, a killer jacket and whom barely speaks a word... and when he does, it’s always something big. On the sandbox track one of the racers hits a dune, becomes airborne and gets stuck in a puddle. BONNIE Poor Walter. Spider sympathetically nods along to that. BONNIE On the one hand you took my winning streak and everything I held dear! Bonnie places a bemoaning hand over her heart. Spider can’t resist <SNORTING>. BONNIE (CONT'D) But... you make everything fun. I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t thrilling to race against you.
