André Previn's soundtrack scores influenced musicians across a spectrum of genres, including John Williams, Shelly Manne, and Billy Hart. Tim Page has published his interview with Previn from 2018(?) on his new Substack. It's well worth a read!

A long-planned recording is under way: violinist Miranda Cuckson and pianist Blair McMillan in a program of Ballads for violin and piano, from Manuel Ponce to Coleman Hawkins via Ethan Iverson to Billy Jim Layton to new works by Michelle Ross, Paolo Marchettini, Matthew Aucoin, and many more!
Back from day one of recording the Ballads project with Miranda Cuckson and Blair McMillen and engineer Sascha von Oertzen. Composers Paolo Marchettini and Michelle Ross were on hand! Planned for release later this year on Urlicht Audiovisual.

I like the idea of a "pain scale playlist", though I'd use
– Fourth Symphonies
– First [or only] Violin Concertos
– Second Piano Concertos
– Opera Act III Preludes/Intermezzos
I created a “Pain Scale Playlist” using 6th symphonies when a near & dear was feeling miserable. For example:
🥺 Little pain? That’s a 1, or Haydn 6.
“🤬 that hurts!” is definitely a 6 — or Mahler 6 with hammer blows.
Here’s how I used it today…
