Independent guy from MN, open-minded to all points of view, but I detest ad-hominem attacks. Interested in politics, foreign affairs.

Also, I am a history buff and a language nerd.

I've got opinions, but I try not to take them too seriously.
Por lo general, mi capacidad de atención no dura más allá del medio de un libro. Ya tengo varios volúmenes apilados en mi escritorio esperando a que les preste atención. Es mi pecado secreto.

I expressed my disgruntlement at CNN, although I am not MAGA, by turning off CNN and getting my news primarily from independent media of various stripes. MSNBC is slanted, but at least they admit it. I watch it when I need to know I am not alone.

Typical MAGA hypocrisy, easily visible in many beliefs they have. I myself may be hypocritical in some sense, until I learn that I'm being hypocritical. I try to examine my beliefs. Introspection seems to be a particularly weak aspect of MAGA "blame someone else" (or blame a group) group-think.

Let's not forget PBS. The Newshour has become a gaslit sewer.

One benefit of going to the No Kings 2.0 event is that I genuinely had a sense of community, regular people. I have felt a bit of loneliness because no one I know is in the opposition. Great Event, come to the next one!

The No Kings Day 2.0 was lots of fun. The clip shows what was a completely peaceful rally by...somewhere around 500, counting late arrivals and early departures.

You can check history, it often is that way. The right is often thought of as the "working class" party, but it could as well be the left (e.g. communism).

In our case in the US, the working class is tied to the billionaires by demagoguery and the narrative of "cultural decline."

I can cite some examples of self-designated atheists who act more like what Jesus said than some nominal "Christians" of MAGA beliefs.

Today, people should be judged by their actions. "Courtesy, kindness, justice and love," has more effect than vituperation and slander. Applies to all people.

I accept, your statement, with some exception.

There's no doubt about the damage caused and apostasy of Christian churches over their 1700-some years of existence (dating back to Constantine's conversion in 311 CE).

But there are real people out there who know what Jesus' message is. And act it.

There are many things about the trump regime that are similar or identical to Putin's Russia, all of them powered by self-aggrandizement and sycophants (some of whom are even more toxic than the orange menace itself).

The USA is my home, I am a patriot (democracy and respect for the rule of law).

I surmise that there is a whole lot more to the government shutdown than "your health care premiums will skyrocket."

The Dems are the only ones left to actually stand up to trump. In that sense they're fighting for all of us disenfranchised by the near death of democracy and the advent of fascism.
