MTG pulled a fast one on Mike Johnson and Trump by resigning rather than retiring. If she had retired Kemp would be able to appoint her replacement until the election next Nov. But by resigning her seat will be left vacant until Jan. 2027 leaving Johnson with an even slimmer lead in the House.

As of January 5, 2026 MTG will be resigning from Congress. She stated it was bc of Trump's policies and the Epstein files and how he and others were harassing her. Some of that may be true but also the RNC has been flooding $ into her district to primary against her.
