Weston is named for the village in Hertfordshire, England. There is a local legend there of a giant called Jack o’Legs. He was an archer and ambushed bakers who had raised the price of flour and gave it to the poor people of Weston similar in myth to Robin Hood. #hockeycards

Chelyabinsk, Russia was the site of the last significant asteroid to hit Earth. Feb. 15, 2013 an 18-meter asteroid hit the atmosphere 30 kms above the city. Almost 1500 people were injured mostly from the shock wave and intense light, briefly brighter than the sun. #hockeycards

Survivor premiered in 2000, but was based on a Swedish show Expedition Robinson that started in 1997. The name Robinson comes from Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe which created a literary genre called Robinsonade which featured people surviving secluded from society. #hockeycards

On March 22, 1990 Canadian engineer Gerald Bull was assassinated. He was developing a supergun that was intended to fire objects into orbit. He was designing it for Saddam Hussein’s Project Babylon before being shot most likely by Israel’s Mossad in Belgium. #hockeycards

Muddy Waters was born McKinley Morganfield. He was nicknamed Muddy because he loved crawling in the mud as a baby, playmates added Water to the nickname. A clerical error on his first recording session added the “s”, which then became his permanent stage name. #hockeycards

Tingsryd is known as the Horse Capital, due to its strong culture. Lexington, Kentucky claims to be the Horse Capital of the World, but Ocala, Florida actually owns the US trademark for the slogan. Newmarket, England is considered the birthplace of horse racing. #hockeycards

Also growing up in Arlington Heights the same age as Zombo was former Wilco band member Jay Bennett. He played multiple instruments with Wilco from ‘94-‘01. He suffered a hip injury stage diving, and later overdosed on painkillers and died in ‘09 at the age of 45. #hockeycards

Also born in Noranda in 1960 was actress Anne Dorval. She has won numerous awards as the lead in Xavier Dolan films “I Killed My Mother” (‘09), and “Mommy” (‘14). She is also a prominent French dubbing actor including Doris in Finding Nemo (‘03). #hockeycards
