Foreign coaches seem to regard it as an extended discussion and an evolving culture & see their job as improving players by explaining the mechanics clearly. English coaches, especially if they've played at high level, generally feel more like gatekeepers who keep what they do shrouded.

It was fantastic and fascinating but it was too long to use it full and too detailed to cut it back and do it justice. It was the 3-2 defeat away under Woody, maybe Harold Moukoudi's debut. Decent game from what I remember.

Foreign coaches are happy to talk tactics whereas domestic ones often see such questions as impertinent or intrusive. #Boro lost after leading at Brentford once and I asked Thomas Frank what he did to regain control and he went into a very long technical answer about creating overloads in key areas.

He was very happy to reveal the mechanics: we tucked in and made the midfield more compact, played more shorter balls forward so didn't lose possession so much, the full-backs plugged the gaps down the flanks more to prevent their counters. All good stuff.
