Films, tv, retro gaming, sports, and forgetting what I'm doing. Easily distracted. Can be found digging through my childhood lego. Not smart or funny
I'm really digging Earth Abides right now. It's post-apocalyptic but without all the violence and crazy stuff. It's a more practical and philosophical look at what life would be like after an extinction-level pandemic

Basic School science should have focused on method rather than information. Mostly critical thinking. Issues of extrapolation from unrepresentative sample size for example

Just got back from seeing the doc. Looks like I have arthritis in my neck (X-ray next week). It'll be right at home with all my other ailments.

40 years old and it feels like I'm held together with tape and string

Robopocalypse was some good easy-reading sci-fi. Instead of chapters it uses a kind of witness account of key events to tell the story of the Robot Wars. It worked well and kept things interesting—like a sci-fi Love Actually.

There's a sequel, but this works better as a standalone novel imo
Btw this is really fucking good

Know lot of the folk on here aren't football fans.... but I am sitting her 30mins after the fact still in euphoric bits. 3 of the very best goals Scotland have *ever* scored in a game where we were 2nd best by miles.... but the result is after 28yrs, Scotland are going to the World Cup 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️😭

I recently read Blankets by Craig Thompson, or possibly reread it. It felt familiar, but if I had already read it, I'd forgotten enough for it to be a proper page turner. Teenagers, eh?

I'd be outside 24/7 if I could, but even an hour by the loch does wonders for the old grey matter

Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

I had to skip the Saints game to go visit my stupid in-laws. By all accounts it looks like it was a cracker of a game too 😭

Spending tens, or even hundreds of thousands of pounds on a digital marketing ad campaign, and then using AI generated slop for the actual ads themselves, is a very expensive way of telling people you like to cut corners.

On to the last two episodes of Station Eleven. I think this show's lost me tbh. It's 10 episodes and I only have 2 left, otherwise I would have bailed.

It's fine, but trying to flesh out a huge cast in a limited series is hard, and it feels like lots of building, but nothing is actually happening.
