A scientist by trade who spends way too much time thinking about Doctor Who, A Song of Ice and Fire, Star Trek, etc. I can't promise that anything I have to say is interesting
It should not be this hot in Birmingham

I think, were I making the Cbeebies Doctor Who, I would use the 1st Doctor and Susan and set it before An Unearthly Child. The grandfather/daughter relationship seems perfect for that demographic and it means they don't have to navigate any subsequent lore

Ncuti Gatwa's exit from Doctor Who has left me really sad, far more than a regeneration normally does. I don't know where the show goes from here. It feels lost in a way it hasn't before

#WishWorld was a lot of fun, although I'm really not excited about 2 returning timelord villains in the same story, as I doubt either is going to get the focus they deserve. All the connections to the other stories in this era really make this feel like Ncuti's last.

The people of Gaza are desperate for help and if you can afford to spare anything, then you should consider finding a fundraiser to donate to. I used this link but there are many out there that need support: chuffed.org/project/1132...
South Gaza: Tents, Cash Aid, Food & Medical
**With Famine on the rise, we will significantly lower tent purchases and focus on food (rice and bread) and water over the next couple of weeks**

Why do the callback to The Parting of the Ways and not have The Doctor connect to Kid? I really believed he was going to realise how trauma can lead you to a dark place and that Kid needs someone to help him focus his anger in the right direction

I'm thinking about Andor and #TheInterstellarSongContest and how the former had Mon Mothma stand up in the Senate and call what happened on Ghorman a genocide when Doctor Who didn't even use the word
May 17, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Anyway, watch Andor, a show about revolutionaries fighting against the system. A show that highlights the terrible things you have to do for justice and how the only way to win against violent oppression is with violence, but that it has to be done to make a better life for those that come after you

#TheInterstellarSongContest
I think the episode means well, and I hope it ended up being rather constrained by how it fits into the finale, rather than the plan from the beginning. Highlighting Eurovision's connection to Moroccan Oil was probably the best we could hope for,

Before Andor season 2 came out I was confident it would be the last Star Wars I would watch and now it's got me doing a rewatch because it's actively lifted up everything around it
May 16, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Andor wasn't just a good Star Wars show, or a good Disney+ show, it was great television. You don't often get shows this consistently well made and I don't know if a 'franchise' will ever do so again
May 15, 2025 at 6:54 AM
The Story and the Engine is 1 of the most unique Doctor Who stories I've ever seen and is a clear confirmation of the importance of diverse voices on the show. It's thematically rich and a great new direction to take the gods stuff. Jo Martin continues to be criminally underused

Is it me or does Voltaire look like William Hartnell?

The Empire has never been this terrifying, the Rebellion has never been so layered. Andor is the best thing to have happened to Star Wars in a long time. Thank you Tony Gilroy

Episode 8 of #Andor deserves to be dwelt on. It deserves to be discussed and digested and felt. Disney releasing 3 episodes a week has done so much damage to the impact of this show

I think I have a reading on Lucky Day that I haven't seen anywhere else. UNIT is the mainstream media and Conrad is Ben Shapiro. Conrad wanted to be in UNIT but was unsuccessful, Shapiro is a failed Hollywood screen writer. Both now spend their days pushing conspiracies online.

I think Lucky Day was probably the weakest episode of the season so far but I still enjoyed it. Millie Gibson always gives a good performance and it was nice to see her back. I really liked Pete McTighe's take on the UNIT characters and I'm looking forward to The War Between

Andor just takes over my entire brain for days after I watch it. It's just so incredibly good

Colin Baker should narrate nature documentaries. He has a soothing, yet knowledgeable voice

If the speculation is to be believed (and you should never believe the speculation) we might be seeing the 16th Doctor sooner than we thought, so who do you think would be amazing in the role?
April 29, 2025 at 9:45 AM
I've been thinking about #TheWell. I said that it worked pretty well as a sequel, but I wasn't sure if it "needed" to be 1. We know the episode went through 2 significant rewrites - making it a Midnight sequel and making Aliss deaf. We'll probably never know how much of the original script survived.
April 28, 2025 at 11:25 AM
The Well was a really good episode of Doctor Who, it was tense and scary and exciting. I keep going back and forth on whether it needed to be a sequel to Midnight, but I think it worked pretty well

Tony Gilroy understands that there's a deep sadness to dubstep
April 24, 2025 at 6:19 AM
Lux was a lot of fun, I am really enjoying 15 and Belinda. The scene with the fans went on a bit long, I think. Mr Ring-a-ding was an excellent villain and I loved the resolution. I don't think it's the best story of the era, but it's one I'm going to enjoy revisiting

Black Mirror spoilers: At the end of Hotel Reverie, when Clara dies, her last words are, "Remember me." Is that a Doctor Who reference? When is Charlie Brooker going to write a Doctor Who?
