My very first cat, Kisa Lísa. From the streets of Reykjavik, she became a beloved family cat. She's quite the legend in the family, and now there is a book about her life for those who are interested and able to read Icelandic.

I had to post this one because it's just so genuinely ugly. That said, we never had trains in Iceland, so this must have been interesting for people to see back in the day. Again, this was taken in the States. I have no idea where exactly.

I found out through some googling that this is Chicago. I'm not sure when exactly, but the fashion looks very 1950s.

We're taking a break from ugly Icelandic and venturing into old American. Among my grandfather's slide collection, there are a few from the States. According to my grandmother, these were likely given to my grandfather by someone he worked with at the Naval Air Station.

Apparently, they used to grow vegetables here. Being close to the sea, they also fished and collected dulse, which they dried and fed to the cows.

Some say this boat has been here since 1966, but according to Minjastofnun, it's far more recent. They claim it drifted there around 1998. Either way, there's not much left.

This was built in 1950, originally intended to be a dairy farm. No cow ever saw the inside of that barn because, apparently, they ran out of money.
