-- On the flip side, there's nothing wrong with loving a thing because of the potential you see in it, even if you're torn by the frustrations you have with what actually exists. If that frustration - or the obsessive love of an Ex #1 - curdles into constant venting, you've gotta find better outlets

More importantly I feel like BOTH of these are unhealthy extremes, but from the wording just being presented by someone who finds themselves in camp #1 more often. It's healthy to understand even things you love have flaws, but it's no less healthy to still enjoy it, even mostly uncritically --

Honestly, at first glance I interpreted it as the eyes glowing with a red light. Possibly ALSO not what you were going for, but it was certainly striking!

While I would hope for something happier - or at least maybe delving into something that allows him to move on, even if that something is itself horrible in some way - I could definitely accept that. For as long as we don't really know what abstraction IS, we can always hope there's meaning in it...
