A reminder that 30 years ago the neighborhood association sued to block the theaters opening because it would cause too much traffic and would be a nuisance

‘Irreplaceable’: Louisville locals rally against potential closing of Baxter Avenue Theatres
The future of a place many are calling a community staple, Baxter Avenue Theatres, is up in the air, and thousands have come together to sign a petition to keep it around.

Less than 72 hours after signing the lease of my apartment in Rotterdam it was announced that they may be replacing the dog park next to it with a 20 story apartment complex. Cant imagine what kind of NIMBYs would crawl out of the framework in Louisville if that was proposed

I plan on writing a Field Notes article about it, but the shift in population density over time in Louisville is insane. Between 1950 and 2025, the average (1950) census tract in urban Louisville has had a 43% reduction in population density. Some has high as 84%.

Incredible use of exonerative tense from Kentucky State Police to describe what sounds like a trooper rear-ending a motorist.

"The marked KSP cruiser was traveling east bound when the front bumper struck the rear bumper of a passenger car that was traveling east bound operated by Debroah Wallen."

Let’s just pretend the fact that our apartment in Rotterdam is incredibly close to the state archives was an accident and not a calculated move to get back on my BS
