Tbh I think they're holding their breath until Starfighter. Not even Mando. They're going to see how Starfighter performs. And I wouldn't put it past Disney to just abandon the franchise altogether at this point if it "flops"

I think you're conflating things a little bit. A franchise should be stronger when it moves between mediums.
