Resistance is not futile. “Hold on to the truth and hope.”
Waiting to challenge Cruz had been her plan until recently. I fear you may be right.

Cargill is the largest private company in the U.S. What you grow for them is an industrial raw material, not food. No one can pick an ear of your corn and boil up it for dinner. Cargill has to process that raw material first, and Cargill doesn’t need production of its raw materials to be subsidized.

Cargill has been credibly called “The Worst Company in the World” for the damage they cause humanity and the environment. They split corn into elements that others can reassemble as Franken-food, animal feed, ethanol stock, and other industrial products.

Commodities farmers mine the soil to create industrial inputs. They don’t grow food. We shouldn’t subsidize them at all.

I know, right?! You’re the only one to comment on that.

It’s been replaced by the dank ass smell of the 20’s.

Jasmine is a black woman, and she is also a lawyer, wickedly smart, funny, and kind. We love her confrontational style, but it also energizes MAGA against her. Given all of this, it is not unreasonable to see Crockett as a great primary candidate who could struggle in a Texas general election.
December 10, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Guess you just read right past the “good guy” part. What was that about reading comprehension?

Talarico is not just white and not just male. He is a good person, with relevant experience, who is finding
a way to bring new people into the party.
December 10, 2025 at 12:40 AM
Wrong. The new TX30 favors a Democrat:
“The newly-drawn 30th District, currently occupied by Crockett, contains a large portion of Crockett’s old district and a piece of Tarrant County, Veasey’s political base.”

I’ll bite: What exactly about Libby’s comment is “sabotaging Crockett?”
December 10, 2025 at 12:28 AM
I didn’t say that, and you are reducing James Talarico to nothing more than his race and gender.
December 10, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Yes, but not until 2030 when he is up for re-election.

I think it’s unlikely that Republicans will vote in the Democratic primary in Texas in large numbers because the Republican race between Cornyn and Paxton will be so close. Any Republican who really cares will want their vote counted for their candidate.

Crockett has often talked about her desire to run for Senate. Her original plan was to wait, and to run against Cruz. I suspect that there were several factors that led her to speed the plans up.
December 9, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Point being, nothing happened TO Crockett. She was not gerrymandered out. It was her decision to leave a safe seat in the House.
December 9, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Go back and read what I posted, and see if your meme is an appropriate response.
December 9, 2025 at 5:46 PM
The idea is to field a quality candidate who can win. The Texas electorate is substantially broader than the Democratic base. Jasmine excites the people who are already in the tent, while James has been bringing in new people. If past is predicate (Beto, Allred), we need more people in the tent.
December 9, 2025 at 5:45 PM
If you have the time, listen to some of Talarico’s speeches. I think you might be pleasantly surprised by his approach to issues.
December 9, 2025 at 5:37 PM
No one here is sabotaging Crockett. When I spoke to her earlier this year, SHE said she wasn’t ready to run for Senate. Her plan was to stay in the House and, ultimately, to run against Cruz. It was a sensible plan. I fear, however, that her ambition may have gotten the better of her judgment.
December 9, 2025 at 5:35 PM
You’re not wrong, but take a minute, when you can, and listen to Talarico. I think you will find that he is a good one.
December 9, 2025 at 5:28 PM
“Her country” is the United States, and it is a mess because of what the President and his enablers are doing.
December 9, 2025 at 2:52 PM
You’ve made this comment a couple of times. The way you’re saying it, suggests that you want to bar people with religious beliefs from ever serving in public office. Is that what you mean?
December 9, 2025 at 2:10 PM
James was in the Senate race first. He announced months ago, when Jasmine was still telling people she was not going to run. By waiting until yesterday afternoon to announce, Jasmine made it practically impossible for James to switch to the Governor’s race, even if he wanted to. Kind of a jerk move.

If you can keep an open mind, I think you’ll find that people who actually believe what Jesus actually taught are actually good allies.
December 9, 2025 at 1:56 PM
The problem is that Crockett is likely to outperform in the primary, while Talarico is likely to outperform in the general.
