Resistance is not futile. “Hold on to the truth and hope.”
Declining a bowl invitation should also forfeit any post-season play the following year.

If we were actually using military strikes to protect Americans from deadly drugs, the Sacklers would have been the first targets.

This. The police exist to protect people from unlawful action. To the extent that ICE has a legitimate (cough) job to do, they have no right to do that job unlawfully. Why haven’t we seen similar orders in CA ( @gavinnewsom.bsky.social; @governor.ca.gov ) and IL ( @govpritzker.illinois.gov )?
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara issued a stern warning to his officers on Thursday: Intervene when you see Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents using unlawful force or lose your job.

Chief Brian O’Hara says he’ll fire city police officers if they don’t intervene when immigration agents use unlawful force.

Tom Cotton is a murderous thug. He has no problem killing helpless Venezuelans, and he would have no problem killing you.
BERMAN: Did you see any evidence of them trying to use a radio in the video you saw?

TOM COTTON: Well I saw lots of evidence of them standing on the boat that had been capsized

BERMAN: That wasn't my question. Did you see any evidence?

COTTON: No, I didn't

If they will kill people clinging to debris in the ocean, they will kill you.
Tom Cotton, pictured here dressed to go aggressively Christmas Caroling at a local synagogue, articulates his enthusiasm for the Trump administration‘s secret unreviewable power to kill anyone they want.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), to reporters, after viewing video footage of the U.S. strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean on Sept. 2:

"Righteous strikes." "Entirely lawful."

I mean … it’s not like there’s precedent for the U.S. going to war on a pretext over oil …

If we allow them to get away with murder there, what’s to stop them from committing murder here.
The U.S. has conducted 19 strikes on alleged drug-carrying boats, killing at least 76 people.

Remember: no judge or jury has found these boats were trafficking drugs. We're simply taking Trump's word for it.

He’s unilaterally acting as judge, jury, and executioner.

This is a danger to us all.

Our continued dependence on fossil fuels in the U.S. is a choice.
Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

Hegseth uses “kinetic, lethal strikes” to murder poor people he suspects of drug trafficking without due process, while his boss pardons rich people convicted of drug trafficking through due process. This is what it means to destroy the Rule of Law.

“Everything you say can, and will, be used against you in a court of law …”

Hegseth has the RIGHT to remain silent, but he lacks the ABILITY.
I can't wait until this chest-beating imbecile is brought up on murder charges.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

On Tuesday, Americans sent Democrats a resounding message.

“Fight for us”

“Fight for working class Americans”

“Fight against Trump’s corruption, criminality and cruelty”

5 days later, Democrat Senators sent Americans a resounding message.

“Nah”

“You know why people don't like liberals? Cause they lose. If liberals are so fucking smart, how come they lose so god damn always?” — Will McAvoy, The Newsroom

We lose because we elect people like Tim Kaine, cowards who lack the courage of their supposed convictions. Shame on him, and shame on us.

Our continued dependence on fossil fuels as our primary energy source is a choice. We have options.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

In Kennedy v. Louisiana, SCOTUS held that imposing the death penalty a case that did not involve homicide is “cruel and unusual punishment” in violation of the Constitution. Thus, summary killing of alleged (or even actual) drug runners violates the supreme law of the United States. It is murder.
Rep. Adam Smith: "This country has not agreed to have the death penalty for drug smuggling. If we want to have that policy conversation, we can have that policy conversation, but the president has unilaterally decided that lethal force is going to be applied. It's an enormous expansion of power."
