That seems to be the only thing that motivates politicians these days: the threat of getting fired. It's so frustrating that they don't listen to anything else.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Rural constituents needs healthcare too, and they were probably getting pelted by calls from said constituents that their health insurance rates were going to skyrocket next year.
