Going to do my duty here and make sure to keep promoting this latest flash piece. It’s fast, it’s violent, and it’s in a different genre than I normally write. Give it a read! shotgunhoney.com/fiction/blac...
Blacktop Baptism by D.J. Tuskmor
The street stank of gasoline and rain, oil swirling in the gutter like a dirty rainbow. Malloy stood under the buzzing glow of the gas station sign, hands in his coat, fingers curled tight. His rib…

I'm headed to the library today to print some zines, and one that I'm including with orders of The Writhing, Verdant End is the "How to Compost Your Landlord" zine. Want some weird ecohorror and practical ALAB gardening tips to boot? Place an order!

Oh no, 2k words added to a new splatterpunk novella WHILE editing the southern gothic horror novella? Who am I? Where did this come from?

Wife and I are kicking off a little book club here soon. We are reading The House Maid by Freida McFadden and then Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. She’s in charge of book club if you couldn’t tell.

If I read an ARC, and I derive any enjoyment from it, I buy the book when it comes out. I think this should be common practice.

We're excited to announce our new membership program! We've been growing and expanding our community of authors, artists, and readers over the past years, and we've designed some cool perks and ways to connect with members. We can't wait to grow even further and support the weirdness that ensues.

To all the creatives, dreamers, and storytellers on here: Don’t lose sight of what you do best, especially amid the darkness. Now more than ever, the world needs greater empathy. And you are the ones who give that to us.

Novella Draft 3 has gone from 36k words to 40k. I’m sure I’ll trim down in other areas as I work through, though there’s at least one beat I know I need to add. It’s a slow process, but I’m getting there.

Hi hey my new book comes out on Jan 20, and she's real pretty, and there's a giveaway of ten of these shiny sprayed hardcovers on GR, otherwise you can ask your local bookstore for one and that would mean the world to me!

The ARCs just keep rolling in. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to get to read these awesome books early, but man is my ADHD brain starting to panic.

First short story acceptance of 2026 is in the inbox. Going to try to maintain some momentum this year on short stories and not fizzle out by July again.

Now reading YR DEAD by Sam Sax. Boy is this taking some big swings and not apologizing about it. I can see why reviews are divisive.

Just finished THE NIGHT SHIP by @alexwoodroe.com (out 1/20/26). 5/5⭐️. I don’t want to give away too much, but it gave me feelings of Stranger Things, The Last of Us, and The Thing at different times. Also, pretty righteous nautical horror feel despite there not being an actual boat. Sequel, please.

If you want a primer on contract law, check out Law School for Everyone: Contracts from The Great Courses. That course was at least as valuable to me as the business law class I took in grad school. Might have been more useful than a decade of working with legal to redline compliance language, too.
Re contracts for books, I highly recommend becoming conversant with best practices, bad boilerplate clauses, etc, even if you have an agent, so you understand everything you have signed your name to. The idea anyone should use generative AI for this purpose is laughable.

If it was a law enforcement action, why are we talking about running a sovereign nation? Those two things feel a bit at odds with one another.

Do you hear that scratching at your window? If you don’t preorder The Denizens you’ll find out what’s causing it.
Have you pre-ordered The Denizens yet?
I just started it today.

Good grief, @brennanlafaro.bsky.social - you don't mess around, do you...?!

This book fucks. Go buy it, ideally from anywhere other than the Zon.
So, this happened today...

It's not great having to ask for help - but if you've enjoyed any of our books, we'd be hugely grateful if you could let people know about them (and where you can buy them)

Word of mouth is... pretty important, right now

I love editing a manuscript after it’s been sitting for a few months. Sure, there’s a lot of work in the edit, but from time to time it’s nice to read something and realize you are actually pretty good at the writing thing.
