Wowzers. This book about the phone book is my bus/lunch reading today. It was written in 2010 and so it has an early cell phone, pre-algorithm take on phone numbers & information searches that is already disorienting. Now I legit may need to go lay down.

Might have a little cry of relief + processing how it has come to this.
Just earlier today I reorganized our safety supplies and found a bag of cloth masks. I don’t remember when I bagged them up because we finally had better options, but seeing them again sure did bring back memories.

All the cats have wanted to do today is come upstairs to the cats-are-here-with-supervision-only room & sleep on the floor. If it means I must lounge on a daybed all afternoon reading a book about walking around Amsterdam, so be it. I’ll take this one for the team.

Today I walked from near the downtown public library to the market, ordered lunch from Maíz, sat down to eat, and walked back within an hour.
Last time I tried this, I ended up eating at my desk because it took so much time to navigate cars & crowded sidewalks.

As someone who does not even like going up hills like Phinney Ridge in a car, I do surprisingly well on Pittsburgh’s inclines.
The Monongahela (this one) seems less nerve wracking to me than the Duquesne - especially on the way down.

Train knitting update 🧶🚆: due to train late, mitts are not only done before Pittsburgh but before Chicago.
This is good because both cities seem chilly. And now I must seek out yarn stores in order to find a new project. Oh darn.

The Djinn Waits A Hundred Years is so atmospheric and engrossing.
I thought reading it on a train would make me less inclined to be spooked by the haunted nature of the story. But no, it just made it all the easier to miss many, many miles of upper plains states scenery.

I am one of the latest in a nearly-100 year long string (haha) of Seattle-area harpists to check out this piece by Hasselmans.

Cut back the hazel because now is the time to do it. Also I wanted to be outside taking care of something with a handsaw today. A win-win. 🌱
