It's interesting, as I have never thought about T:2000 in that much detail. A lot to consider.

Also, according to Google Scholar, you are the only academic to use "gonzofication" in an academic article (from those available to the GS search, of course). Which is awesome.

But… but… it did!

I can see that - sometime I don't want to look behind the curtain and see how things are made, and just enjoy something.

Ooh, this looks brilliant. Thanks for sharing the signal, Jon - I'd never heard of it. Ordered.

As somebody who works in healthcare, if they are willing to let you “jump the queue”, what that means is they are moving you to the correct place on the queue based on your medical need. which is how it’s supposed to work. So don’t feel bad about it, Lee. It’s the NHS working as it should.

Carpentry, you say? It's almost liek we planned it...

I had the pleasur eond priviledge of playtesting Beat to Quarters 1st Ed with Neil, and great fun it was too. I'm eagerly looking forward to the 2nd editions of both games.

I don’t use the WAC at all, but I do pay for it. And the idea of the public paying for a public resource which is not open to the public sits ill with me.

And that’s before we consider its value to the academic community, and to public record of what should be auditable events.

Bad show, BBC.

And I don’t know about you, but I think that makes it even scarier than the fictional horror elements. Brilliant stuff!

Not only is it really interesting to see the shape of the fiction versus reality in a contemporary era game, but I really think it adds to the horror. Often we say that ‘humans are the real monsters’. Well, some of these footnotes offer on-record historical proof that is true.

Mine arrived too! Looks great!

Not gold… star? :-)

But yeah, players (of which the GM is one) all have a responsibility in bringing g the fun, etc. it’s one thing GM-less indie games can teach tragic players (using the I would argue increasingly irrelevant distinction).

Depends. In a short run of a game I tend to go iconic, as we want to experience that system / setting, so it makes sense to foreground key elements.

For longer campaigns, I like to vary it up to keep things fresh.

Not a commercial project, but in slow time I'm working on one shot scenarios, pregen sheets, and table bling for the 7 or 8 games I'll take to the Contingency convention in Jan 26.

“I don't want rules that get out of the way, I want rules that get in the way in interesting and productive ways” might just be my new favourite way of phrasing how important the proper rules can be.

Put of curiosity, what was the consensus answer, Sean?

The size and shape can change as your skin stretches etc as you grow. For a good idea, have a look at pictures of tattoos before and after weight gain/loss - it’s a close enough comparison.

If the answer is not “in charge of everything and everybody” I shall be most disappointed! That is not the look of a kitty that does things by halves.

My theory is that @burnafterrunning.bsky.social has the character generation super power of being a maths teacher. Surprisingly useful for RPG-based applications, that power.
