now that deltarune chapters 3-4 are nearly out, I've been rereading the original novels. they're surprisingly close to the games, here's Noelle from book 2

Before her was a window, and because the moon was so very full and bright Kris could see her expression quite clearly. She was in awe, any fear long having left her, for the sight before her left no room for anything but wonder. “What a strange moon!” she cried, though no one else was there. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before!” Then at last her wonder gave way to fear, for as great as the Dark World was, it was equally terrible, and now she was quite alone in it. “I wish Dess could see this,” she said.

Does everybody else have a mental catalog of every inflection point in their personal history? My memory is shot to shit but I remember the times I made life-altering mistakes so vividly. At least in thinking about em now it's bringing my attention to ways it wasn't all my fault.
