I haven’t logged how many hours I’ve spent answering questions from angry, scared, and confused people because of this lie. I should have. It’s been a lot. Time that should have gone to actual work.

The apology should be to those poor believing people, election officials, and America.
NEW:

Dinesh D’Souza is issuing an apology over his election conspiracy film “2,000 Mules.”

While largely blaming the group True the Vote, D’Souza admits that the heart of the film - surveillance footage of vote drop boxes supposedly showing illegal “ballot trafficking” - is false and misleading.

We agree that discussions of ‘openness’ in tech *must* engage “issues of context, power and use—how will such systems be used, by whom, on whom…”

The OSET Institute believes in open source software as a critical ingredient in transparent public election tech.

We are nonpartisan and nonprofit.

We’re pleased to see commentary from OSET Board Member @eddieperez.bsky.social in this fine piece by @annodea.com of @siliconrepublic.bsky.social.

Elections and thoughtful tech design should be natural allies, supporting the free exchange of ideas based on facts and transparency.

The OSET Institute is all about open-source election technology, and we approve of this message.

Indeed, flattered.
