Right and it's the same theory of walking 10,000 steps a day being a metric for health. The steps are an arbitrary number but guess what types of people have the free time to walk 10,000 steps with any regularity?

People always accept the idea "there are levels to this shit" but stop short of actually applying it or learning what those levels are. bsky.app/profile/troy...
Boxing is a lot like writing in the way that many people think that because they can write words or strike something with their fist, they have the primary requisite skills or understanding of how they are applied. Little to no understanding of process and craft.

Easily in my top three concert experiences. Drunk as shit Alexi Laiho laying on the floor behind the merch table yelling "hell yeah dude, fuck yeah" at everyone who bought a shirt was a delight.

I feel like nobody engaged with that movie on its own terms. Talking policy would distract from what it's actually interested in exploring; particularly American manifestations of a Freudian death drive

A really terrible bit is giving people The Gift by Marcel Mauss and asking them not to reciprocate.

Yeah, and a lot of the big tech embrace of fascism makes much more sense when you recognize they're both top down cults of action for action's sake.

Do you remember when Google had like five different chat and video calling things and that were not integrated? It's because their employees need a product launch to get a promotion, none of them were particularly creative, and new chat products are the easiest thing to build.
