Sharing this because Anna is an awesome colleague and I think thisv review will be worth reading.
My review of New Documents in Mycenaean Greek is now out in BMCR! Tldr: essential reference work for Linear B studies, but I've tried to give some tips esp for new students/researchers on how to use it productively & a few things to watch out for

There should be a word for wealthy white cishet men who suddenly embrace being autistic solely to try to avoid accountability for their shitty behavior.

ICYMI: the Blue Man Group will end its long-running show at the Astor Place Theatre this Feb. 2. Before taking up residency on Nov. 17, 1991, the original trio performed at local EV/LES venues, including King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on Ave. A at 7th Street (where Niagara is now). Here's a flyer from 1989.

Signalling all Durham people.
I'm doing my inaugural lecture on Friday at 1pm and it's going to be a hybrid affair. It will feature:

Guess Who?
HalfLife
Taskmaster
Lovejoy
Wittgenstein
Scarfolk
Psychics
Climbers
Clangers

Only one of those is fake. Tune in! Or even..come along! I accidentally asked for the big lecture theatre.

It's like some sort of exorcism, or a bit of hocus pocus, a sprinkling of magic dust, before doing what you were planning on doing anyway.
So many presentations with "of course Gen AI has ethical issues" and then they go on to use it anyway and recommend that students use it , because apparently the ethical concerns are resolved by simply saying 'this has ethical issues' once before starting to use it.
