The theme is timeless and that movie does it justice. Have you ever seen THE BAD SEED? Read the play. The ending is different for Rhoda. Also, check out the vast differences between Paul Tremblay's THE CABIN AT THE END OF THE WORLD and the movie. Very different!

I don't think ALL ABOUT EVE is streaming anywhere for free, but you can find it at Prime. I very highly recommend it. I believe it was originally a play. There is also a musical called APPLAUSE that is based on it. By the way - Bette Davis rocks! You're going to love this one. She bites!

And scary because it has happened and could easily happen again.

I first read of the rib removal myth regarding Victorian women and corsets. Gotta have that perfect corset waist. You will love ALL ABOUT EVE! Ever hear the phrase, "Fasten your seatbelts; it's going to be a bumpy night"? It's from ALL ABOUT EVE.

The first film that struck that point home for me was ALL ABOUT EVE, starring Bette Davis. The acclaimed actress is replaced by a younger one because the acclaimed one is supposedly past her sell-by date. The myth that women would surgically remove ribs to get that tiny wasp waist comes to mind.

Yes, I agree. When you are forced to meld into machines in order to stay alive, that's horrifying. Where do the machines end and you begin? I need to write some Industrial Horror. I had no idea there was such a thing.

I agree. I think people (esp women) become more invisible as they age. All the shots, tubes, swabs, machines, wires, and such attached to people for medical reasons is dehumanizing enough but when you get older it's really bad. You become one with the machines, and the machines are winning.
