This copy was given to me by a rep of The Confucius Inst when they were closing down. They also gave me a bunch of history books, heavy on propaganda, about religion in China. They're very informative and so heavy handed, it boggles the mind.

I'm sure the bankers won't do anything risky that could force the taxpayers to bail them out 😂

I should have put "logical" in quotes 🤦🏽‍♀️

It's one of the majorities logical strategies. Look what they did would fail, but if they did it this other way it'd be legal...so their action is legal. 🤦🏽‍♀️

From the top nut to the bridge is under 20 inches, and the bottom of the 12th fret is 10 inches from the top nut.

So the bridge is off a little, that's why the frets are out of wack in a consistent manner.

Maybe I'll readjust the bridge...but nah, I know why it's messed up now. It's fine!

Notice on the orange guitar that it is 10 inches down from the nut to the bottom of the 12th fret.

From the bottom of the 12th fret to the bridge is another 10 inches!

This guitar sounds good!

So what about the sunburst guitar?

The bridge placement on the sunburst guitar had to be off!

An easy way to figure out where a bridge should go is to measure from the top but of your instrument's neck to the bottom of the 12th fret and measure that same distance from the 12th down. That's approximately where it should be.

still didn't sound like a banjo.

Then I learned how to set-up my bridge and tune the head properly.

Let me tell you, everything was off. I learned a lot and my banjo playing sounds way more like a banjo now!

And then I looked at the 2 guitars lying side by side and the answer hit me!

It stayed in the back of my mind, and then tonight I accidentally discovered the answer when I was working on my banjo.

It never sounded like a banjo when I got it but I figured that was because I didn't know how to play the banjo.

Months later and some clawhammer practice, it...4/?

I put the orange one to the same test, nothing wrong with it.

Side by side they looked the same. Just mass assembled in China under the name "First Act".

It puzzled me but I trudged on. I mean, they're $15 guitars. Someone probably made a mistake assembling the Sunburst one.

But how? 3/?

I wanted to have a guitar for each tuning I'm working on so I bought the sunburst one in late summer and started playing it, learning cover songs but it always sounded a bit off.

One day I put it to a tuner test and sure enough the frets were all out of wack but consistently out of wack.

So...2/?
