Not sure if it's journalistic best practice to frame "proof of involvement in a decades-long ring of powerful child rapists" as "the greatest challenge to his legacy."
Unless you're trying to actively help him overcome it, I think it should rightly be framed as the final word on his legacy.

"The party of pedophiles wants to institute genital checks" seems like low-hanging fruit, but the problem is that Democrats see a power vacuum in the fracturing Rs and would rather position themselves as the moderate solution for the people supposedly fleeing the party.
I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.
