One of the most affecting things I have read is Siegfried Sassoon's diary - how he goes out to the war full of thoughts of glory, and so quickly realises the horror and describes it so vividly.

Yep. I am Victoria and never Vicky - I hate that people who have never met me before assume that it's OK to shorten my name! Good friends call me Vic, which is fine, but never Vicky.
