A statement in regards to the Equality and Human Rights commission's recent Interim Update concerning single sex spaces.
TransLucent - Statement Following the Supreme Court Ruling Following the recent Supreme Court ruling, the EHRC has issued an Interim Update for service providers and employers. TransLucent's view is that the Interim Update is misleading and does not provide the clarity that is being claimed. We urge service providers and employers to apply caution before making changes that might be unlawful. TransLucent are currently taking legal advice from a highly respected firm of human rights solicitors and counsel. A further statement will be made in due course.

Statement Following the Supreme Court Ruling At what has become an increasingly troubling time for all trans people and their families, TransLucent wish to send a message of support and our ongoing commitment to standing up and defending trans rights throughout the UK. Please contact us if you are organising a protest, and we will put details on our website. Our email is contact@translucent.org.uk. While the Supreme Court ruling has resulted in high levels of distress, technically, it only affects trans people with a GRC. What is now imperative is that neither the government nor the EHRC give false information to single-sex service providers, implying that the Equality Act has changed or that the requirement for a “proportionate means to achieve a legitimate aim” to exclude no longer applies. TransLucent have sought urgent clarification from the government that the message they portray is factual and does not add to the current levels of distress nor fuel any public action that impacts the safety of not only trans women but any women not conforming to a perceived level of femininity.
