One of the most consistent principles in his life is to become unbelievably partisan in every conflict he encounters, and then to win the conflict using a barrage of extreme verbal force.

And if Arbitration week wasn't happening, there'd just be nothing.

Honestly, the food was great, I really loved the old town which actually has some culture, and there's some fun bits here because it's Arbitration Week, but I'm itching to leave. Just travelling anywhere is an ordeal!

I feel bad, because my colleague was so excited to show it to me, and lived here for 10 years, but it's just all so hollow and empty. A glossy facade that hides its inequality only slightly better than other places.

And sure, if what you want from life is to drift through traffic in a 4x4 so you can go buy things that's great, but if that is what you want from life, I am sorry.

Ironically, the shift from limited takeaways using real cars pre-uber (I.e. Chinese takeaways with real drivers, domino's cars) to deliveroo era (dodgy e-bikes, mopeds) has made it less defensible?

Yeah, £100 is not the difference between whether I could notionally support my Mum or not. Come on, be serious.
November 14, 2025 at 12:02 PM
Right, but how do you resolve any of those issues without us paying more in tax to cover the costs?

It's just not serious to pretend there's a better option than taking trivial sums from everyone.
November 14, 2025 at 11:50 AM
Yeah I'm on around this, and the we are talking around £100 on a take home of £3750-£4000 depending on student loans/pension etc, it's not nothing, but it's not a deciding factor either.

Yes, yes, the Labour party is once more in a death battle with its arch nemesis: the Labour Party.

100%, especially amongst their own voters.
November 14, 2025 at 9:57 AM
If they do try that I will almost respect the joke. Almost.

Labour will win in 2028 if there are marginal improvements to public services, moderate growth, and fewer potholes. That's all it will take. Every attempt to micromanage each issue will be what kills them.

In recent memory? 100%

The best time to do it was last year, the next best time is now.

Polling from the time showed most voters expected Labour to break it anyway!
