I'm always thrown by people trying to use this system built for one very specific purpose (high fantasy combat/roleplay) and just apply it to completely other shit when there's a million other systems out there that could just as easily fit it if not better.

I'd also argue bad media can have interesting ideas. Just because the work itself is poor doesn't mean there's no aspect of it worth observing or thinking about. Sometimes there's good ideas or concepts mired on dogshit execution. Sometimes the piece of media is just bad in a way that is interesting

Its also like the only game that really cares about enemies being armored lending to it being basically the only one with blunt weapon supremacy. Caestus my beloved.

The second half (two thirds, almost) of Cultic dropped just a couple months ago and is one of the best low-fi shooters ever made. I wouldn't even call it retro, just intentionally scuffed up. Pre-distressed shootery.

I love the games mechanically and it annoys me so much seeing folks toss most of it away all for the sake of their git gud shit. Like these tools exist to be used, and these games have so much variety for a reason. Fuck that shit about the right way to do things.

Though seriously, watch Gnosia. Its kinda incredible how well made this show is for what is basically a game of Werewolf.
