Proudly representing the residents of San Jose's District 3.
The world is coming to San José and we’re ready! Our new visitor center on Third and San Carlos gives us all a new way to be ambassadors for San José, by helping visitors discover our neighborhoods, local businesses, and events in 2026 — and beyond.

Today we welcomed Tamien Station Apartments to the neighborhood! Tamien Station Apartments represents so much of what makes for a vibrant community: safer streets, close proximity to public open space with Tamien Park, easy access to transit and housing choices for families of all sizes.

I joined hundreds of volunteers on this year’s MLK Jr. Day of Service for a tree planting with Our City Forest. The power of collective action is just one part of Dr. King’s legacy that remains relevant in 2026. It was a pleasure to join folks from San José to make our city a little greener. 🌳

Sharks know just how important healthy teeth are to growing up strong, especially S.J. Sharkie! San José’s favorite fish and the Sharks Community joined us at Lowell Elementary for a dental screening with the Healthier Kids Foundation — along with a $40,000 grant for their Dental First program. 🦈

I joined the Rapid Response Network in solidarity with Minneapolis. What happened was not law enforcement or self-defense – it was unchecked violence, backed by the federal government. Renee Nicole Good should be alive today. She should have been able to go home to her partner and children. (1/3)
San Jose rally protests deadly Minneapolis ICE shooting
More than 50 observers from the Rapid Response Network lent their voices Thursday, criticizing the deadly ICE shooting in Minneapolis. Kris Sanchez reports.

I spent my morning planting trees in Orchard Park with Our City Forest! Expanding our urban canopy doesn’t just provide shade—trees help address the urban heat island effect and can even help to slow down traffic. Thank you to everyone who joined us today to help make our city a little greener! 🌳 🌲

All aboard @caltrain.com Holiday Train! 🚊 🎄 This newly electrified tradition is taking folks to holiday celebrations like Mountain View’s German Holiday Market and Las Posadas in San Mateo, but we all know the best stop is Christmas in the Park right here in District 3. 😉

Last night, I celebrated community pride with the Guadalupe Washington Neighborhood Association at their holiday party. Little did I know that I’d be honored during the awards ceremony—for collecting the most trash at their litter pickups!

Last week we welcomed Entre Comales to our downtown! I became a regular customer during their soft opening. I’m still exploring their full menu, but so far my favorites are the bean and calabazas pupusas. Congratulations to Jonathan and Oxiel on this milestone. Thanks for investing in DTSJ!

It’s First Friday in SoFA! While you’re checking out #ArtwalkSJ, I hope you visit MACLA’s latest exhibit: From Their Hands to Ours. In a time where the federal government is trying to erase our cultural histories, the exhibit shows how art can preserve our culture while providing hope & connection.
