The data clearly shows renewables offer massive long-term savings, environmental benefits, and stable prices, with solar PV often 40%+ cheaper than fossil fuels for new projects.

Once again, this one term government is rushing through a policy change against the advise of its own analysts.
Public scrutiny is being avoided because they know this change will be bad for the environment *and* the economy. NZ now joins the list of climate pariahs

What a week it’s been on the road for Opportunity. Over the past few days I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many passionate, thoughtful people in Wellington and Palmerston North. New Zealanders who genuinely care about building a fairer, more hopeful future and who are hungry for real solutions, not slogans. Across both cities, a few themes came through loud and clear: People are looking for hope. They want a politics that backs their potential, their families, their communities, not one that divides or dismisses. Fairness matters deeply. Whether it’s young parents balancing the cost of living, small business owners trying to grow, or older New Zealanders worried about the world their mokopuna will inherit, fairness is in our DNA. A desire for long-term thinking. People are frustrated by short-termism. They want climate action that’s practical, housing solutions that are honest, and a tax system that’s built for the 21st century. These conversations are shaping our campaign, and ultimately our movement. Thank you to everyone who showed up, asked hard questions, and shared your experiences. One of the strongest themes from my visits this week was innovation - not just in technology, but in how we care for people, restore nature, and shape our future. I also met with a range of start-up communities this week: at CreativeHQ, ManawaTech, and The Factory, I met founders and innovators who are pouring their energy into solving problems and making things better. They’re the engine room working on boosting our country’s productivity in food systems, clean energy, fintech and more. New Zealand is full of people who believe we can do better and are rolling up their sleeves to prove it. That spirit of innovation, creativity, and care is exactly what Opportunity is here to champion and scale across the whole country.
