I am more in danger of being killed by my government than by any immigrant.

"ICE murders American hero" is the clear-eyed headline.

The NYT and WaPo writers and editors are so in bed with fascists they can't be journalists anymore.

Do you listen to your novels (the ones you have written) in audiobook format?
January 23, 2026 at 8:10 PM
I'm surprised that the figures are that exact and that low.

Also, anecdotally, I always pick up your books at the airport when I fly through the UK, and I haven't spotted that one. They're difficult to find in the US (unless I go on Amazon and pay Bezos his cut).

Do you get paid more if it actually becomes a successful series or is that just not relevant to your income?

That is exactly what I said when I first saw it -- it's basically Portal Knights with Chipped (the Minecraft mod). I liked Portal Knights and I like Minecraft.

Ray Porter is a treasure and I'm glad he's your reader for this one.

I am planning on attending and saying "hey." :)

I don't know anything about this book, but I am going to get a copy.

I also thoroughly believe a 120 page trade paperback "choose your own adventure" book called "You Will Kill Your Imaginary Friend for $8.95" would be immensely successful.

It's not too bad. The worst part is chugging PEG. The shitting isn't great, but the sleep you get is the deepest and most restful...

(And your creativity is awesome, and you are fun to watch play.)

You are on my "favorite Hermits" list for the great example you set in being kind and generous to your friends. I hope everything is good!

Any info you can share about the book? Something for us to look forward to?

And "delightful" burritos.

Just a personal anecdote: it's really easy to set up and use, but not quite as turnkey as Plex. I manage Navidrome, Plex, Audiobookshelf and Kavita (for music, movies/TV, audiobooks and ebooks, respectively) and it hasn't added huge overhead.
January 6, 2026 at 12:09 AM
Kavita is Plex for books, so family sharing can come from anywhere. 🙂

Ahh, I saw the reply about "no eink"... so I have used the Lenovo Tab repurposed with Lineage instead of their bloatware filled default Android distribution and it was pretty snappy. Whatever Android tab you go with, getting away from the default install and Google owning your data is good...

Kobo Libra Colour? I think its Android under the hood, and with Kavita on an Rpi running Ubuntu to manage what you're reading across devices? I am slightly biased because I set this up for my 3 kids and wife just before Christmas and gifted them a library of unlimited books sharing between them...

My only business-related outbound communications this year have been emoji and getting caught up on paperwork for last year's expenses...

Switch to LibreOffice. It's fully compatible, better and free.
