Colnbrook is a small village on an important road. Running Colnbrook One-Place Study & working on website for same.
Probably explains why my #OnePlaceStudy is doing well!

#OPSconf25 Thank you for an inspiring day. 👍

The errors in the London parishes are can be seen before the Ancestry executives land at Heathrow. The adjacent parish of Stanwell is not in the Borough of Richmond. While Harmondsworth, the parish the aircraft touches down, has one film in reverse order. Problems before their luggage is found!

I did not order any Wills for Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy There are other sources like Lloyd George Finance Act, Land Tax, Tithes, & Water Rates can give ownership information.

For all Buckinghamshire people in WWI, Buckinghamshire Remembers is a good place to start.

Time Team is alive and well living on YouTube with some of the old faces and a lot of archeology. 😁

Machine learning using one’s own data, like astronomy is acceptable as it is their own data. This research is also being compromised by Starlink’s hundreds of satellites circling the Earth 🌍

Artificial Intelligence using the Large Language Model is a whole industry based on theft. Which is one of the reasons I do not modernise the spelling used in transcribed Wills & Deeds for Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy

The same can be said about Coleshill Hertfordshire between Amersham and Beaconsfield. A place of refuge from the Buckinghamshire Justices of the Peace.

Archivists count in folios, just to confuse ordinary folk.

This was at the time of religious persecution and Catholic threats against Elizabeth I. I wonder if this baptism was a confirmation that Samson was a member of the community in Buckingham and declared this publicly.

This #OnePlaceWednesday I’m working to finish the Banns transcription of Iver the parish next to #Colnbrook-OPS. The study contains one significant Inn & farm in that parish. In the meantime here is a view of Market Square Aylesbury while waiting for @BucksArchives to open #OnePlaceStudies

With a 1st edition Pevsner you know when he didn’t like something. Aylesbury market clock was described as “insipid gothic with a spire”.

I’m also concerned that the current government has run out of ideas, and land tax could happen. Although our predecessors doing #OnePlaceStudies in 100 years time would thank them.

Anybody seeing the word Domesday should be reminded that any survey like this is usually followed by confiscation or taxation. Henry VIII had a Military Survey in 1522. The result was Certificate of Musters for the ordinary folk. Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy has its own entry.

I’m waiting to see the face of the teachers when I mention the Census is really about having enough soldiers to fight battles in Europe 🤭

Don’t believe what is said about the Ostrich in Colnbrook. There is a lack of tree ring dating evidence. There is also a lot of speculation based on an old book about fishing retold by the local Vicar.

That’s why I like early parish registers where the spelling has a liberating amount of uncertainty.

I think it only means the paparazzi have forgotten what she looked like. Both the paps and news editors are not the best judges.

#OnePlaceSudy what happened? Did the town’s people board-up the building? So far no more evidence has been found in the archive catalogues including the insurance listings in London Archives. #ResearchCanBeHard
