Our server is full of strange machines I don’t understand. Sometimes they take me there, and they produce XP, gold, iron, gunpowder, or whatever else.

In our family, it’s the fifth grader who’s the village elder on the server. I sometimes play, but with limited time or “during vacation” -- I haven’t gotten very far. So our survival world is mostly shaped by a gang of fifth graders.

#Minecraft is actually a quite nice simulation of life. You’re just dropped into the world — and then what?

Well, just like in real life: first survive, then find something you enjoy doing.

And maybe get along with other people, too.
