Thoroughly enjoyed meeting Dev in the summer while hosting Wokingham Town’s 150th anniversary evening. A shame it’s come to this, football is ingrained in him. Feet up I hope, but I’d not be surprised to see him pop up in some capacity elsewhere.

I've been doing these Shopping live blogs for five or six weeks now, and leading up to Black Friday is likely to be hectic to say the least.

They're a lot of fun to write, and I'm enjoying finding different ways to frame stuff. www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/sho...

As a joke, when my daughter puts her school polo shirt on and the collar sticks up I started to say she looks like Eric Cantona.

Now she’s asking questions, can sing Ooh Ahh, Cantona and it’s only a matter of time before she asks about his team.

Worried I’ve created a Manchester United fan.

I met Phil in the summer and had a good chat. That breadth of experience up and down the game is going to be absolutely vital.

Also worth clicking the link to find the podcast episode on how he became an NFL kicker.
Experience with Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and a player in Non-League with Wokingham Town, Phil Alexander is now the permanent CEO of the National League.

Was it Captain Turbot?
It’s 12 November, so it’s time to mark the 55th anniversary of the exploding whale of Oregon, an attempt to clear a cetacean carcass from a beach which prompted one reporter to say “The blast blasted blubber beyond all believable bounds”

I freelance and someone at one of the businesses I work with revealed yesterday their uncle was a very culturally significant 90s musician and songwriter.

Nobody at the business knew this either.

So, in the interests of curiosity, are you related to anyone famous?

This is the first time Slough Town have progressed further in the FA Cup than Reading since 82/83. They lost in the Second Round to Bishops Stortford.

I am genuinely really pleased by this news. I think he is treated poorly despite all the highs he gave England fans and would be on a hiding to nothing wherever he went.

He seems a decent, sensible bloke with a platform, and boy could we use a few of those.

Nominations appreciated.
Football in Berkshire is 10 in March. We'd love to celebrate with a nomination for the FSA awards. It would mean an awful lot to us.

There's a specific non-league award (#12) we're aiming for.
