I can testify that from student shoots, to crews on welsh soap operas, to short films - to apparently IMAX blockbusters - nobody asks the sound recordist what they would like.

I wouldn't be surprised if their roar (plus Ben Burtt's Star Wars sound FX, experienced at the age of 7) instilled in me my liking for distorted guitars and electronics.

Perhaps still a grandparent's house, as I can't imagine any home owner with such carefully topiaried trees would otherwise allow such a plastic carbuncle on the front lawn (and maybe another clue is it's not on the lawn).

Amazingly the house remains. All the trees are gone (I fell out of one of them when I was a child). A cold house, with black widow spiders in the dark corners, and a basement for tornado warnings (I remember the green sky and howling siren of a close call). A storm ditch down the road to play in.
