Alexandre Desplat's score for 'Frankenstein' (2025) is an arresting piece of work. Desplat creates an immersive soundscape. Love it!

Was very taken with Mia Goth in 'Frankenstein', especially in her role as Elizabeth. She's an excellent foil to Isaac's Victor and who sees in the Creature spiritual and human dignity. Her scenes with the Creature are heartbreaking. It's an interesting change from the novel.

I found Oscar Isaac's take on Victor Frankenstein very compelling indeed. There is something of Peter Cushing's Frankenstein in Isaac's portrayal; the narcism, the pride and arrogance. Still there remains a complex humanity to him. The physical trauma he undergoes is fascinating.

Jacob Elordi's turn as the Creature is beautiful. His Creature is a sensitive, intelligent being, prone to extraordinary violence when roused. It's wonderful to have a cinematic depiction that sticks to Shelley's vision. I felt great despair for him.

Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' (2025) is an exquisite variation on Mary Shelley's novel! While it diverges from the novel, it fully understands the Sturm und Drang romanticism of the text. It finds pathos and horror in the body. The film has the sweep of a David Lean epic.

Could really do with 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' season 2 updates. How's it coming along Legendary, Apple TV? Wonder if they're saving something for Godzilla Fest next month.

So excited to be seeing 'Frankenstein' (2025) on the big screen next week! Guillermo del Toro's films, especially his personal works, always feel special. Can't wait to see how he has adapted Mary Shelley's novel.

Eager to hear Alexandre Desplat's score for 'Frankenstein' (2025). I have no doubt it'll be an evocatively dark and moody affair.

A depiction of Frankenstein's Monster that is faithful to Mary Shelley's novel! Such a thing is rare in film and television.

Watched Val Guest's 'The Quatermass Xperiment' (1955) and 'Quatermass 2' (1957) last night. Adapted from Nigel Kneale's first two 'Quatermass' serials, these films are superb pieces of paranoid science fiction horror. They have a gritty, unnerving sense of dread about them.

When it comes to lavishly produced film adaptations of classic British gothic horror novels, the 2020s are starting to feel like the 1990s.

There's an interesting legal drama to be teased out of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'. Firstly the legal implications of Victor's experiments. Secondly, and tantalisingly, the legal ramifications of his Creation. What are the Monster's political rights. How would law apply to him.

For the 'Ultra' series' 60th anniversary celebrations next year, Tsuburaya Productions should really consider re-releasing Akio Jissoji's 'Ultra Q The Movie: Legend of the Stars'. Give it the full works - theatrical and issuing it on blu-ray. Would be a good opportunity for them.

Subsequent Reiwa-era Godzilla films should get an alternative black and white presentation. Especially if they're tapping into the tone and atmosphere of 'Gojira' (1954).

Mari Natsuki's performance is an absolute treat. An intensely vampish and baroque turn, she steals any scene she's in.

Just watched Kinji Fukasaku's 'Legend of the Eight Samurai' (1983)! It's an incredibly 80s piece of cinema, it's great! Fukasaku crafts a wildly entertaining blend of violent jidaigeki and dark fantasy action. I enjoyed this film a lot. Grandiose pulp at its best.

I'm glad that Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' is getting a theatrical release. However I really wish it wasn't a limited select theatres engagement.
